• Electricity: The City of Stromsburg owns and operates its electric distribution system, including two substations with a total capacity of 3,500 kVA. Electric power requirements for this system are purchased at wholesale from the Polk County Rural Public Power District, with headquarters in Stromsburg. A fulltime lineman is employed by the city.
• Natural Gas: Purchased from National Public Gas Agency, natural gas is supplied to the community of Stromsburg through a city owned distribution system. Northern Natural Gas Company is the pipeline supplier. The pressure for the four-inch pipeline serving Stromsburg is 450 pounds. Natural gas, with an average BTU value of 1,002 per cubic foot, is available for residential and commercial uses. A firm supply of gas can be made available for industrial uses. The city employs a fulltime gas superintendent.
• LP Gas: LP gas is available at Pollard Propane & Oil Company, Inc., and United Farmers Cooperative, for residential, commercial, and industrial uses.
• Water: The municipal water system in Stromsburg furnishes clean, safe drinking water to present customers with room for growth for business and residential use. The system has an overhead storage capacity of 200,000 gallons and a maximum capacity of 2,504,000 gallons per day. The static pressure is 54 pounds.
• Sewerage: Stromsburg has a municipal sanitary sewer system. The four-cell lagoon system was built in 1996 and has a daily capacity of 160,000 gallons. The city employs a fulltime water/sewer commissioner.
• Solid Waste Disposal: Privately owned garbage removal services are available in Stromsburg. The disposal site is located in York and is owned by The York Area Solid Waste Agency.

2002 Community Survey Results

Since 1963, the Nebraska Community Improvement Program (NCIP) has helped communities build on their strong heritage and form a vision for the future. Stromsburg joined the NCIP in 1963 at the very beginning and has participated in NCIP since. Part of the "NCIP Blueprint for Success" is a community survey. The survey serves as a method of obtaining input from the citizens. Through the responses, goals and priorities can be identified and action plans developed. This survey was compiled and tabulated by the Stromsburg Community Improvement Program.
