“Taste of Sweden” (formerly Grandma’s
Kitchen) is a service project of the Stromsburg Woman’s Civic Improvement Club.
It’s one of the favorite attractions of the Swedish Festival. The question is,
“Who benefits from “Taste of Sweden”?
The Swedish Festival Benefits
“Taste of Sweden” provides a pleasant,
air-conditioned eating place for those attending the Festival. Along with the
parades, carnival, music, games and dancing, the many visitors to the Festival
need and enjoy all the food choices offered at the Festival. All those choices
add to the success of the entire Festival. Any profits made are secondary.
The Community Benefits
Any incidental net profits made by
“Taste of Sweden” are added to the treasury of the Stromsburg Woman’s Civic
Improvement Club, which in turn supports many things in the community.
During the past year, the Woman’s Club
has donated to the following: The community information booklet for newcomers;
scholarship to Cross County high school graduate; After Prom Party; Columbus
Rescue Mission; Cross County School’s fine arts program; Polk County Historical
Society; Flowers for the City Square Park and Arboretum.
“Taste of Sweden” and all of its many
helpers can claim a part in all of the above funding.
And YOU Benefit
Over 100 volunteers put in many hours,
cooking and serving in the “Taste of Sweden”, so that YOU can experience
delectable goodies and hometown Swedish hospitality. This year, you can even
take home a delectable mini souvenir from the Mini Bake Sale. More important,
you can take home wonderful memories of the Swedish Festival and the “Taste of
Sweden”!
Tack så
mycket (thanks so much) for coming!
