Jay Holtzen, son of Terri Holtzen, read the following about the Queen:

Queen Terri Mom, I'd like to be the first to say congratulations. We are very proud of you. Out of a family of three sons, I was the chosen one to give the inaugural speech, so here it goes.

Most of you probably know that our family is not native to the town of Stromsburg. It was Mom's job with Overland Sand & Gravel that brought us to town in 1988. She served as office manager until May of 1997 when she was promoted to vice president.

Ever since moving to Stromsburg, Mom has been very active in the community. She was instrumental in beginning the Toastmasters Club, and remained active throughout its entirety. She has been a long time member of the Chamber of Commerce, serving on the board for several years. She has served on the State Chamber as well. She serves as a member on the Annie Jeffrey Hospital Board. She is also active on the CIP committee, the Community Improvement Program, and has served as a Nebraska CIP judge, judging other communities. Mom has been involved with the Swedish Festival for as long as I can remember. If she's not serving as chairperson, she's behind the scenes sewing Swedish costumes and flags for the lampposts, or organizing the Smorgasbord.

I know that she feels very honored to have been chosen Queen for this year's celebration. She will do an excellent job of representing our community in the year to come.

Brought to you by The City of Stromsburg and the Stromsburg Chamber of Commerce
